About Arkverk and the plans
What is Arkverk?
Arkverk is a Norwegian online store for digital woodworking plans for furniture and outdoor projects, including Adirondack chairs, tables, planter boxes and outdoor kitchens. Every plan is based on a project we have built ourselves in our workshop, and is developed in collaboration with a structural engineer.
What do I get when I buy a plan?
You get a digital plan in PDF format with everything you need to build the project:
- Finished dimensions, difficulty level and estimated build time
- Technical drawings with measurements in millimeters
- Cut list with every part labeled by letter
- Material list based on standard lumber sizes
- Step-by-step building instructions with illustrations
- Printable templates for curves and key parts (on projects with curved parts)
- Building tips from our own builds
What language and units are the plans in?
The plans are available in Norwegian and English. All measurements are metric: parts and drawings in millimeters, total material quantities in meters. The plans do not include measurements in inches.
Can I print the templates at full size?
Yes. The templates are split across A4 sheets that you print and tape together into a full-size template. Print at 100% scale, not “fit to page”, and check a known measurement on the sheet before transferring the shape to the wood. If your printer uses US Letter paper, check that no part of the template is cut off at the edges.
Will there be more projects?
Yes. We release new plans on an ongoing basis. Sign up for the newsletter at the bottom of the page to hear about them first.
Do you sell finished furniture?
No, Arkverk only sells woodworking plans. If you would like a finished piece, send us a request and we will see if the workshop has capacity.
Before you build
Are the plans suitable for beginners?
Yes. Every plan lists its difficulty level and build time on the product page, and the instructions are written so that first-time builders can follow them. Classic Planter is a good first project. Adirondack Classic Lounge is rated intermediate, but works well as a first project if you allow a little extra time.
What tools do I need?
The projects can be built with standard power tools:
- Circular saw or miter saw
- Drill/driver
- Jigsaw for curved parts
- Sanding equipment
Every plan includes its own tool list. A table saw and a router make the work faster, but are not required.
What type of wood should I use for outdoor projects?
The plans are designed for standard lumber from a building supply store. For outdoor use, pressure-treated pine is the most common choice because it is affordable and easy to find. If you prefer to avoid pressure-treated wood, you can use untreated wood, as long as you finish it with oil or stain and maintain the surface regularly. Use stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized screws outdoors.
What if my lumber yard doesn't stock a size in the material list?
The material list uses standard sizes stocked by most Norwegian lumber yards. If a size is missing, you can often use a slightly thicker board, but this can affect other measurements and how the parts fit together. Email us at support@arkverk.no before you cut, and we'll tell you what to adjust.
Purchase and download
How do I get the plan after purchase?
Right after your purchase, you receive a separate email with the plan as a PDF, in addition to your order confirmation. The PDF can be read on a phone, tablet or computer, and can be printed. Save the files to your own device so you always have them.
I can't find the email with the files. What should I do?
The email with your files arrives separately from the order confirmation. Check your spam folder and any tabs such as “Promotions” in your inbox. If you still can't find it, email support@arkverk.no with your order number and we'll resend the files. We usually reply within 24 hours.
Is there shipping or customs?
No. All plans are digital, so there is no shipping, no waiting and no customs. Prices are shown in your local currency.
Can I cancel my purchase or get a refund?
No. Because the plan is delivered digitally right away, the purchase is final once the files have been delivered, and we do not offer returns or exchanges. If you were charged twice, the files don't work, or you haven't received access, we'll sort it out. Contact support@arkverk.no with your order number. Read more in our refund policy.
Help and usage rights
What if I get stuck while building?
Email support@arkverk.no with the name of the plan, which step you're on and, ideally, a photo. We usually reply within 24 hours.
Can I sell furniture I've built from the plans?
Yes. You can sell furniture you have built yourself from our plans, for example locally or through online marketplaces. Serial production, or having others build the furniture for you to resell, requires written permission from us. Contact support@arkverk.no if you're unsure.
